Claudio N Soares
Dr. Soares is a full professor and former chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Queen’s University School of Medicine in Kingston, Ontario. He currently serves as the inaugural director of the Centre for Psychedelics Health and Research at Providence Care Hospital & Queen’s University, executive lead for the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND), and regional lead for mental health and addictions at Ontario Health East.
Dr. Soares trained as a psychiatrist, completed his Ph.D. on the effects of estrogen for the management of depression in midlife women, and pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in perinatal and reproductive psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
He served as a board member of the Menopause Society (formerly known as NAMS) for 7 years, including as its president (2024-2025). He is now the executive director of the Canadian Menopause Society.
His research has focused on the design and implementation of clinical trials in depression, with a primary focus on novel hormonal and non-hormonal options for midlife women experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, vasomotor symptoms, and sleep problems. He is also exploring the use of digital health technologies for treatment monitoring and relapse prevention in depression and sleep disturbances, and the role of psychedelics in the management of psychiatric disorders and existential distress in late-stage cancer.
Dr. Soares is a sought-after educator with more than 240 presentations at national and international meetings and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in mood disorders and women’s mental health, including in JAMA, Nature, and the American Journal of Psychiatry.

Susan Goldstein
Dr. Goldstein is a Family Physician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
Her clinical and research activities reflect her special interests in medical education, faculty development, and mature women’s health. She is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). Her menopausal assessment tool, the MQ6, and treatment algorithm, were published in the April 2017 Canadian Family Physician. She has presented locally and nationally on topics related to Menopause.
Dr. Goldstein is the recipient of a number of honours and awards, including the 2014 W.T. Aikins Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, and the Award of Excellence from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Kelsey Mills
Dr. Kelsey Mills obtained her honours undergraduate degree from Mount Allison University and her medical degree and residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She completed a fellowship in Mature Women’s Health at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. She obtained her Master of Science in Health Science Education at McMaster University.
Dr. Mills has been a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) since 2013 and has previously won the SIGMA Young Canadian Menopause Scholar Award, the NAMS/Teva Women’s Health Resident Excellence Award and the NAMS New Investigator Award. She is currently a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Victoria, BC where she has a complex menopause practice. She is an invited speaker at provincial, national and international conferences. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia and Affiliate Associate Professor at the University of Victoria.
Alison Shea
Dr. Alison Shea is an Associate Professor and Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Menopause specialist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Dr. Shea completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a clinical fellowship in Menopause and Reproductive Mental Health, at the University of Toronto. She is a certified menopause practitioner through the Menopause Society (formerly NAMS North American Menopause Society) and is the Chair of the Examination Committee for the Menopause Society. Dr Shea is also the Treasurer for the Canadian menopause society, and the Director of the Menopause Fellowship Program at McMaster University.
Michelle Jacobson
Dr. Jacobson is a general OBGYN and menopause specialist at Women’s College and Mount Sinai Hospitals in Toronto. She has a special interest in women who are prematurely menopausal due to cancer therapies and women with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes. She directs the familial ovarian cancer program at Women’s College Hospital.
Céline Bouchard
Dr. Bouchard is a Canadian Obstetrician Gynecologist practicing in Quebec City with special interest in menopause and vulvovaginal diseases. She is a Fellow of the International Society of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and is recognized for her expertise in this field by many of her colleagues. Dr. Bouchard has been involved in women’s health research for many years and involved as co-investigator in many trials on menopausal hormone therapy. She sits on the Editorial Board of the Menopause Society's Journal “Menopause” and on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada. She is an active member of the Canadian Menopause Society and is responsible for the Quebec regional section for the Society.
Angela Baerwald
Dr. Baerwald is a Family Physician and Associate Professor in the Department of Academic Family Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She is also the Medical Co-Director of the Women's Midlife Health Program at Saskatoon City Hospital, and the Medical and Scientific Director of the Women's Health Research Lab in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Baerwald is a Menopause Society certified practitioner, with a clinical and research focus in women's health. Her research team evaluates changes in ovarian and uterine structure and associated hormonal variability that women experience during the menopausal transition. Her research team has been recognized internationally for the characterization of ovarian follicular waves during the menstrual cycle with clinical applications for femal reproductive medicine that have been adopted globally.
Jamie Benham
Dr. Benham is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and Community Health Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and an Endocrinologist at Alberta Health Services - Calgary zone.
In her clinical role, Dr. Benham provides comprehensive care to patients dealing with various endocrine disorders. Her primary focus is on Women's Endocrine Health, particularly in managing conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and gestational diabetes. Her research centres on exploring reproductive and cardiometabolic health throughout life for people affected by reproductive endocrine disorders, such as PCOS and diabetes. She's dedicated to uncovering the complex connection between hormones and health, with the goal of improving patient well-being and communoity health.
Jeanne Bouteaud
Jeanne Bouteaud is an obstetrician-gynecologist at the CHUM in Montreal, Canada. She studied medicine at McGill University and then her residency at the University of Montreal. She completed her post-doctoral training with the “Mature Women’s Health Fellowship” under the supervision of Dr. Wendy Wolfman at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She specializes in the management of menopause as well as gynecological sequelae in cancer survivors. She also has an interest in the follow-up of patients carrying genetic mutations at high risk of gynecological cancer.
She is completing specialized training in quality of care via the “Centre for Quality Improvement & Patient Safety - CQUIPS” at the University of Toronto and is active in several quality improvement projects.
Omolayo Famuyide
Dr. Omolayo Famuyide is the Founder & Medical Director of the Layo Centre, a comprehensive clinic providing women's health services in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a former practicing pharmacist and family physician, Dr. Famuyide is uniquely positioned to serve patients in her well-established women’s health practice. Her passion for women’s health led to the completion of a twelve-month fellowship at the University of Toronto, a world leading institution in women's health. A Certified Menopause Practitioner through The Menopause Society, Dr. Famuyide’s proficiency in the areas of reproductive health, advanced contraception and menopause is well regarded. Dr. Famuyide is a known expert in the areas of contraception and menopause, having been invited to speak on these topics to various medical trainees, practitioners and other allied health professionals. She is frequently called upon as a health expert to speak in the media with appearances on Global News, CTV News, City News, The Winnipeg Free Press and Chatelaine Magazine.
Beyond her role as a clinician, Dr. Famuyide is a mom to a lovely son, a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys spending any extra time she has dedicated to fitness and travel. She also currently serves as a Member at Large with the Family Practice Executive Council at Doctors Manitoba and Board Member of the Canadian Menopause Society. She is also an educator, and an advocate for women's health. She was also a recipient of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch of 2024!
Kerstin Gustafson
Dr. Gustafson is an Ob/Gyn from Vancouver. She is originally from Victoria. Dr. Gustafson did her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. She went to UBC for medical school and did her residency in Ob/Gyn at the University of Alberta.
Dr. Gustafson has dedicated her career to gynecologic endocrinology and to improving the care of individuals navigating the menopause transition and reproductive aging. She is a clinical associate professor at UBC. She has held her MSCP certification since 2010, and is the current Medical Director of the Complex Menopause Clinic in Vancouver and the Menopause and Midlife Health Program at BC Women's Hospital.
Radomir Jarcevic
Dr. Radomir Jarcevic completed his medical degree in obstetrics and gynecology at Université de Montréal in 2015. He then completed additional training in menopause and mature woman’s health at Mount Sinai Hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. He has been practicing at the CIUSSS-de-l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal since 2016.
Dr. Jarcevic has a general practice in obstetric gynecology and offers dedicated healthcare to perimenopausal and menopausal women. He is also actively involved in the training of medical students and residents through his role as a clinical lecturer at Université de Montréal. Dr. Jarcevic significantly contributes to medical education by regularly giving presentations at conferences.
Andrea Murphy
Dr. Andrea Murphy is a licensed pharmacist and professor at Dalhousie University's College of Pharmacy, witin the Faculty of Health. She also holds cross-appointments with the Department of Psychiatry (Faculty of Medicine) and the School of Nursing (Faculty of Health). Her research focuses on improving access to health care, particularly for underserved populations. Recently, she has been exploring pharmacist-led interventions to enhance care for individuals experiencing symptoms of menopause.
